Being a vegetarian...

On Saturday, I was on a day's trip to Delhi. The journey had nothing to write about apart from business, if not for the dinner on return by Jet Airways back to Mumbai.

In fact while going I had told Anish, that I wouldn't be having dinner. Alas being a vegetarian proved a sore point again...Unfortunately that night the stewards' pattern of serving made sure that I will be amongst the last to be given food. And so it happened, that people who would normally scourge non vegetarian food going miles decided that, they would have veg food for a change. The supply structure had been shaken. The result being that people like me were told to make a choice! Between probably some green salad, an apple and given the hunger, some more of salad. On top of it our mates asked me politely whether I can switch over to non-veg for a change:-)Well, the last reason why I would want to change my eating habits. This was not the first time it was occuring on my flights. I returned the food with very less of emotion but I suppose the message was given. And Pallavi (our air-hostess) said the mandatory sorry and got into the supply chain intricacies...Couldnt have blamed them for the fiasco and my having to seek out other avenues for dinner after getting home...

But I was left wondering, about the fortune of non-veg eating people who have a plethora of choices and whose dynamic decision making habits could put vegetarian guys into a bit of spot! Another thread of thought was whether the cabin crew understood a situation wherein their customer was not adamant but could not do much about the situation. And the best solution was not to eat!

Another thought which came to me after the trip was to introspect on whether I have mellowed down in terms of accepting situations...Or diplomatically put whether my skills at "empathising" have improved! Not a great situation to be in...

Anyways Sunday happened to be the ideal Sporting Day with lot of action on hockey, formula 1 and premier league...India won against arch rivals Pakistan and so did Schumi. And everything else was forgotten:-)
